Magnesium Oxide for Agricultural Applications

Adithya Chemicals provide magnesium oxide for use in agricultural applications.

LCM is a high purity agricultural grade magnesium oxide that provides a source of magnesium as a nutrient. Lightly Calcined Magnesite is useful in correcting magnesium deficiencies in a wide variety of soils and crops.

In biological terms, magnesium is basic to agriculture, given the fact that it is an essential constituent of chlorophyll and the assimilation of potassium.

Cattle feed

In livestock farming: it is an essential component in cattle feed, providing nutrionstrengthening their defenses, promoting fertility and protecting against stress.

Electrical Steel

Dead Burnt Magnesite with high purity, micronized grades of magnesium oxide that are used in the manufacture of silicon grain-oriented steel for high efficiency distribution transformer cores, specialty ceramics, and coatings.

In the annealing process, Dead Burnt Magnesite react with the silicon steel to form a glass-like film during the high temperature anneal, which then acts as an electrical insulator between core laminations in an electrical transformer

Flame retardant

A non-halogenated, high purity magnesium hydroxide powder for use as a flame retardant and smoke suppressant in plastic compounds for thermoplastic olefins, plastic building materials, select wire and cable applications, and plastic fillers and coatings.

Food Grade

Magnesium oxide, which is odorless and non-toxic, is used as a food additive for powder mix desiccant (drying agent), color retention, pH modification or as a magnesium supplement.

Magnesium oxide adds dietary value in the form of the mineral magnesium in dietary supplements (i.e. vitamins). When added to food products, also helps control pH and maintain food color.

In addition, it keeps powdered foods, such as powder drink mixes, free-flowing as it acts as an anti-caking agent.

Fuel additive

Magnesium oxides are used to produce overbased magnesium sulfonates and magnesium salicylates that serve as fuel additives and motor oil detergents. High purity Magnesium Oxide with uniform calcination and fine particle size generate sulfonates and salicylates with high base numbers and good clarity.

Magnesium hydroxide products with low calcium levels are used in the production of magnesium carboxylate fuel additives to treat heavy fuel oils and crude oils. Hydroxides generate carboxylates with high % Mg and without detrimental effects caused by high calcium levels, which cause particle buildup on power gas turbine blades.

Glass

High purity magnesium oxide products combine low reactivity, high quality, consistency, and fine particle size for use as a processing aid in the production of liquid crystal display (LCD) substrate found in smartphones, tablets, televisions, and computer monitors.

For fiberglass applications, melt viscosity must be fairly high so that the semi-molten strands have integrity thus preventing breakage as the glass emerges from the spinnerets. Because of its properties, magnesium oxide raises the viscosity of the glass melt ensuring a more precise mold. Fiberglass is used primarily in FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) products such as bathroom showers, tubs and windmill blades.

Mining

High purity, light burned Magnesite is moderately reactive and uniformly burned to provide a higher recovery of valuable metals from ore extraction such as cobalt, nickel and copper from acid leach solutions. Our Product can improve MgO utilization efficiency and increase the precipitate grade or yield of the metal giving a superior performance in hydrometallurgy over naturally-occurring, mined magnesia products that have lower MgO purity and slower, non-uniform reactivity.

Pulp & Paper

magnesium hydroxide functions as a cellulose protector and an alkali in mechanical pulp peroxide bleach systems, as well as in the oxygen delignification and extraction stages of chemical pulp bleaching. CellGuard has multiple applications in pulp bleaching and provides the following benefits:

  • Mechanical Pulp Bleaching
Significantly lowers bleach chemical costs by eliminating or reducing caustic soda and sodium silicate usage and by yielding higher residual peroxide for potential reuse
  • Chemical Pulp Bleaching
Reduces chemical costs by eliminating magnesium sulfate usage in oxygen delignification and extraction stage bleaching

Refractory & Steel Making

High puritydead burned magnesite is used in refractory products such as refractory bricks, monolithic gunning mixes, castables, and other miscellaneous refractory applications, for steelmaking, iron making, and foundry applications where high temperature and corrosion resistance are required. Several grades of dead burned magnesite are available sizes andfines fractions.

Rubber & Plastic

Magnesium oxide powders deliver the precise predictability needed in rubber manufacturing. The key to successful rubber and plastics compounding is the accurate timing of activity – the property that regulates the rate at which magnesium oxide accepts by-products.

Manufactured to precise specifications in size, surface area, porosity and dispersion characteristics, magnesium oxide products eliminate unnecessary cycle changes, reduce stock losses, and help maintain control over product consistency.

A consistent compounding time ensures accurate reproducibility with each production run.

Waste water treatment

Magnesium hydroxide slurry’s minimal requirements for safe handling, storage and use make it the smart choice for wastewater treatment versus caustic soda or lime. They are non-hazardous, environmentally-friendly, safe and cost-effective treatment options for alkalinity addition and pH adjustment of waste streams.

Water treatment

MgO are non-hazardous, environmentally-friendly, safe and cost-effective treatment options for pH adjustment of potable water.

Other Industrial

Leather Tanning

For leather tanning applications, MgO provides a consistent and controlled rate of pH increase allowing the chrome to uniformly penetrate leather hides to react completely with the collagen and thus prevent staining. In addition, neutralized chrome contains water soluble magnesium sulfate, which is not detrimental to leather.

Drilling Fluids and Cements

Pulverized MAGNESIUM OXIDE can be added to Portland cement to make a tighter seal for down well drilling holes. After Portland cement is set, magnesium oxide hydrates and expands providing a tight bond between the ground and pipe insert. Lightly burned magnesite products can be used as a viscosity modifier in drilling muds.
